The wine is named after a traditional Portuguese folk dance and its soul relies on those values: tradition that pleases the senses. It is produced from the typical varieties used to the elaboration of Port Wine: Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. With an attractive garnet color, this is an exclusive, pleasant and delicate wine that boasts an enticing aroma of wild berries, oak and vanilla. On the palate, it reveals itself as an elegant, well-balanced and complex wine, making this a live, harmonious whole.Charamba is a perfect pairing with grilled meats, particularily game and lamb. It is also a good match with cheese and nuts. Serve between 18 and 20Ă‚ÂşC.The vines are planted on the schistous slopes above the River Douro. The harvest takes place in late September. The grapes are fermented and macerated at controlled temperatures (26-28Ă‚ÂşC) in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation and slight aging in oak barrels for 9 months, the wine is bottled and aged further for 8 months. The Charamba brand was launched in the 1990's when Aveleda took a bold step towards winemaking in other regions, in this case, the Douro Region, famous for the production of Port Wine and home of some of Portugal's most renowned winemakers.Awards: Wine Spectator 88.0 Points 'A mineral-infused red, with crushed red fruit flavors and refined spicy notes. The lush finish features smoke, pepper and spice. Drink now through 2012.'
